Ladybug Digest #2 3.1.23

Hello! We have LAUNCHED! It’s about time we share what we’ve been up to! Our hope is that 2023 will usher in a new era in which we are able to open up this space more officially for new and dynamic modes of collaboration and creation. To give a sense of what that means, take a look at what we've been up to, below!

1. www.ladybugland.co

As you can see, here we are, in this living digital space that represents the work in progress that is Ladybug Land. We're always looking for feedback and would love to hear thoughts/impressions if you have them to improve the user experience in any way we can!

2. Ladybug Land, LLC

Yes, this is happening! Which might not mean much to you personally but it is exciting for us to share that this dream is becoming an ~incorporated~ reality, which will open up all kinds of opportunities for us (grants! tax breaks! probably more stuff, we're still learning!)

3. Lodge Plans

We started 2022 with a bang (doing some serious demolition work in the Lodge in subzero temps) and then had to take a step back from the physical work to focus on the mind-boggling task of drawing up plans! We are super grateful to our dear friends David Maron (architect) and Chris Rodriguez (contractor) for working with us on this, teaching us so much along the way with compassion and patience. We have some more demolition to accomplish this month (March) and are also exploring septic solutions (sexy) - but we can't wait to share the Lodge progress over the next few months as we get back into the physical labor of it!

3. Events

We are delighted to share that this June, we will be hosting our first wedding in Ladybug Land! After 33 years of hosting wedding-sized events every summer, we are just over the moon that our dear friends are entrusting us to plan this special event. This has always been part of our vision for this space, and we can't wait to get to work preparing the grounds for this activation of the grounds.

We also closed out 2022 with our first annual Cozy Catskills Holiday Revue in partnership with the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, and are looking forward to investing more time and energy into producing shows with local arts organizations and establishments. There is undoubtedly a burgeoning arts scene in the area and we'd love to book a show with you if you're interested:)

4. Retreats & Residencies

Last year, we hosted several different musical ensembles for writing/rehearsing retreats (including a warm up with Skullcrusher for Newport Folk Festival, which Odetta and I played!), and are hoping to host even more of these types of stays in the year ahead, with two already on the books for the summertime. Reviews have been superbly positive, with multiple EPs and bodies of work coming to fruition in Ladybug Land. With music at the heart of everything we do, it has been incredibly fulfilling to see other members of our community engage with the space in this way.

Okay that’s all for now, we’re germinating our seeds, both mentally and physically, and can’t wait to see you this upcoming season in Ladybug Land!

Love,

Camellia & Odetta
